Mvskoke Music = Aryn Ward
Aryn Ward is a Mvskoke composer, musician, and interdisciplinary artist with Yuchi heritage. Her work is rooted in cultural memory, language, and the belief in music as medicine. Drawing inspiration from the rhythms of the Mvskoke & Yuchi languages, her compositions grow from spoken word into melody and texture, weaving ceremonial energy and storytelling into concert music and community space alike.
A classically trained flutist and multi-instrumentalist, Aryn blends formal education with Indigenous knowledge systems, creating chamber works, solo pieces, and improvisations that reflect healing, identity, and resilience. She is the founder of The Good Medicine Indigenous Music Festival in Midtown Houston and publishes under Mvskoke Music, her platform for amplifying Native voices in contemporary music.
A mother of four musicians and wife to a band director, Aryn approaches her work through the lens of legacy, collaboration, and love; inviting others into a deeper listening grounded in Indigenous experience.
