Festival Overview

The Good Medicine Indigenous Music Festival celebrates the depth and diversity of Native artistry with an all-Indigenous lineup of performers and composers. This year’s festival features violinist and composer Anjelica Lindsey (Cherokee), pianist and composer Connor Chee (Diné), composer

Micheal Begay (Diné), metal guitarist, vocalist, and composer Sage Bond (Diné), and host/composer Aryn Ward (Mvskoke/Yuchi), alongside collaborations

with local musicians.

Spanning Mvskoke and Yuchi traditional songs to classical, contemporary, metal, and experimental works, every piece is Indigenous-composed and performed. The festival creates a powerful journey across genres and generations—honoring ancestral traditions while amplifying bold new voices, and reflecting what Indigenous music has been, is, and will become.

The Good Medicine Indigenous Music Festival brings together an exciting group of Indigenous artists representing a wide spectrum of musical traditions:

Anjelica Lindsey (Cherokee Nation) – Violinist and composer whose work bridges classical performance and contemporary Indigenous composition. Her music blends lyrical storytelling with innovative chamber and orchestral writing rooted in Indigenous identity.
Connor Chee (Diné) – Pianist and composer known for evocative works inspired by Diné culture, landscape, and storytelling. His performances and compositions seamlessly weave together classical traditions and Indigenous perspectives.
Michael Begay (Diné) – Composer, guitarist, and performer whose music explores Indigenous identity through contemporary classical, experimental, and improvisational expression, creating deeply personal and immersive soundscapes.
Sage Bond (Diné) – Metal guitarist, vocalist, and composer bringing powerful, genre-expanding sound rooted in Indigenous perspective. His work pushes musical boundaries while honoring culture, community, and personal expression.
Lara Lignitz (Cherokee Nation) – Soprano and actor specializing in opera, concert, and musical theatre performance. Recognized for her expressive interpretations and radiant upper register, she brings Indigenous excellence to the operatic stage through both traditional repertoire and contemporary works.
Aryn Ward (Mvskoke/Yuchi) – Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist presenting traditional ceremonial and hymn music alongside original classical compositions, graphic scores, improvisation, and experimental works inspired by Mvskoke and Yuchi languages and traditions.
